Artifact: Teachers Leading Cobb Forward 2014
For Standard 6.1 Continuous Learning, I have attached the artifact that I created last spring, 2014. I was asked by my principal to be a technology presenter for the upcoming, Teachers Leading Cobb Forward Conference that was to be held the second week of June. I created a K-2 Technology Workshop that was specifically related to Web 2.0 Tools. It contained a few other ideas and activities as well. My presentation went well and I am proud of the Google Docs presentation. In addition, I went to the ISTE 2014 Technology Conference that was held in Atlanta in June, 2014. There was so much to take in and learn at that conference as well.
This technology presentation artifact demonstrates mastery in Standard 6.1, Continuous Learning. In this artifact, continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies can easily be seen. I love new technology. With how fast emerging technology tools keep coming out, it is almost impossible to try every single tool, it is about education and if I hear that it is on the cutting edge, I am one who will be the first to try. That is how I apply the new technologies to improving personal productivity and professional practice.
While completing this artifact I learned a lot about creating a technology presentation. I learned about organizing my topics, choosing which digital tools would be of most interest to K-2 teachers, making the presentation appealing so it will look fun and inviting. I also had to prioritize the order in which I would present each digital tool. The presentation went very well! The participants enjoyed it and they loved that they got to take the presentation with them so they did notave to write notes down furiously as I shared. I got them involved and even had them get up and do one of my brain breaks that I use daily, Go Noodle. We were in a computer lab so they were able to participate and try some of the digital tools out while we were there. It was a success, I was not nervous presenting because I felt comfortable with all the digital tools that I presented.
This impacted Timber Ridge because it gave me another chance to present a workshop. I have been helping my principal out with that at staff meetings and professional development sessions. The experience I have gained by presenting again has only given me more confidence to continue coaching or presenting workshops. I did find a couple new digital tools when I created this presentation so now I am excited to share these new tools with my staff at Timber Ridge. I plan to continue being an advocate for 21st Century learning at my school. With every new teacher I can get to start using digital tools in their classrooms, the more progress I will have made.
