6.3 Field Experiences
Candidates engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. (PSC 6.3)
Artifact:Structured Field Experience
I used the Field Experience from my Internet Lesson Plan that I created in ITEC 7430. It states the activities that were included in this Internet Lesson Plan along with the standards that were addressed. It included several activities that provided for a hook, differentiation, and an assessment. It was a multidisciplinary activity covering social studies and language arts.
This Field Experience shows mastery of Standard 6.3. The Field Experience Log contains appropriate field experiences that synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. These field experience logs allow me to analyze and reflect on what I have completed. By completing the field logs for all of the structured and unstructured field experiences, it allowed me to reflect on them as well as grow professionally.
By completing this Field Experience log, I am able to reflect on how much I have learned during this project. It involved research based instructional strategies that provided for an authentic lesson. Students were given choices of which items they would prefer to complete, which served as a student-centered learning experience. This type of student-centered lesson was also inclusive of diversity and differentiation; allowing the students to choose the activity that was of interest to them and which fit their capabilities.
This Field Experience has had a huge impact on Timber Ridge. After showing this activity to my teammates, we decided to use a similar activity with students who have planned travel during school days and their parents ask for work in advance. We can also use this type of activity with students who may be out of school for some time due to illness. Often their parents ask for school work for them to complete as they are feeling better slowly.
